What to include when you share a recipe

Give other cooks the details they need to follow your recipe and credit your work properly.

Tell us which appliance you used

Write the actual model rather than just “air fryer”. If your method uses a tray, programme or particular container, describe it. State which cooking stages take place in the appliance and which use a saucepan, oven or grill.

Avoid describing a method as suitable for every model unless you have evidence for that. A good contribution can be specific. Knowing it was made in one named appliance is more useful than a broad compatibility claim.

Give quantities that can be followed

Use one ingredient per line and keep its preparation words beside it. Include the amount of oil, the size of a tin or packet where relevant, and whether rice or another ingredient is weighed before or after cooking.

If you use an appliance spoon, name it. If you use cups, explain the size of the measuring cup. “A splash” can be appropriate as a preference, but it is less useful for a sauce where the amount changes the consistency. Include an approximate measured amount where you know it.

Write the method in cooking order

Explain the preparation first, then each cooking stage in order. Say when later ingredients are added and whether you stop to turn, stir or move food. Put resting, marinating or chilling stages in the method rather than hiding them in an introductory sentence.

Tell us the actual yield if you know it. You do not need to invent a preparation time or calculate calories to contribute a useful recipe. We can leave those fields blank while keeping the ingredients and method clear.

Share a photograph you can authorise

A photograph of your finished dish is required before a recipe is published. You can submit text first and arrange the photo later; the recipe will remain pending. Use your own image or one you have permission to let the website publish. A picture found through an image search is not automatically available for reuse.

Your name can be credited as the contributor; your email is kept out of the public recipe. The form sends the contribution for review, not automatic publication. If you used a manufacturer booklet, identify the booklet, model and page so the editor can check the reference and distinguish an adaptation from a community original.
